I shouldn't be hijacking your con thread with my GTs. So here are some pics of my breeding pair of convicts.

How do you know when gt's are able to breed?

Well firstly you need to ensure you have a male and female. Then you need to wait until the male is significantly larger than the female. Otherwise she will likely not breed. The female will need to be around 2" or larger. The male will generally be quite aggressive to the female to begin with, until she gives in. Then they will flare and shake at eachother, biting rocks etc. They usually spawn on an open area, usually a rock on a gradient around 45 degrees.

Why do you ask? Are you planning on trying to breed some?

Yea i have 2 con pairs 1 jd male(female) passed and i just picked up 4gt and like 13 african cichlids but mostly interested in breeding th gts now

Agh! I'm seeing all of these Convict threads all the time and it makes me want to pick up a male convict for my group of females SO badly (I want my wife to see Cichlid breeding behavior) since my Angels are taking their sweet time to pair off.
