I use to breed convicts for years. Males will turn into females i have found out. We have even had a male and a female then lie eggs then the male turn into the female. really weird. Youre plecos and shark are probley the reason youre not seeing any fry. They will suck them right up.
edit: we usually kept the convicts temp at 78 also there were no other tank mates with most of them but still had success with tankmates which at the time were a JD and yellow lab.
