I've breed a 3" male with a 1.5" female successfully. One trick I've learned is females like their mates slightly bigger then themselves.

Looks like a pair is forming up before I got a chance to put everything in lol they control one corner that the have cleaned and the male chases of the others that come close I'm expecting eggs anytime now

Yep easy to breed and u can leave the fry in there and normal they won't kill them unless the pair breaks up I have a pair of red devils pure A.Labiatus just as easy paired off not even in week of having them
