Convict questions

It's usually around 6-7 days from being laid until they are free swimming and can eat baby brine or finely crushed flakes, it varies by tank temp.
 
Thank you very much ^^ How often do they breed, anyway? Like how long after they lay eggs do they lay eggs again?
 
Hikari first bites is another good food for the fry, as for the breeding they'll do it on a wet sponge. It's actually much harder to get them not to breed than it is to get them to do it.

i have had convicts breeding at 1 inch, some at 1.5 inch, and i believe i had a pair at 1/2 inch breed, but that one i am not to sure of... but anywhere from 1 inch and up they should start spawning..
 
I have a "breeding colony" of Convicts (about 20) in the tank. There are probably 3-4 breeding pairs (at least). Whenever I get a fresh batch of fry...I siphon them out...and place them into a grow-out tank.

I think that I've had as much as 3 sets of fry at the same time in the tank. One day I'll have no fry...next day SURPRISE!!!;) Convicts breed like CRAZY!!!;);)

As far as selling the fry/small fish. I wouldn't count on it. Convicts are so common & they breed so easily. You'll be luckly if a local fish store will take them off your hands. About the only way to get rid of them is as feeders or give them away for free on CL.
