Convict sexing/Mating behavior

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Alright this time I took a video of what they mainly do the entire day, you don't have to watch the entire video but the first few seconds show the "fighting" they normally do. I'm just wondering if this is normal breeding behavior or are they actually fighting?

Thanks,
Justin

Sorry about the terrible quality :nilly:

Sorry about bumping this again I'm just worried that someone might get hurt, could someone view the video and get back to me?

Thanks,
Justin

Hmm ..its hard to tell cant figure out witch one is female or male.

But mine get pretty brutal to each other with minimal damage.

..I would just keep an eye on them at this point..keep the water clean and keep an eye out for any major damage..small fin rips and scraped are normal.

Thanks a lot for the response, it's mostly the male that starts the fights and flares at her when she passes "his" clay pot but when they start fighting they both go at each other... Is this a sign that maybe the male isn't accepting the female or just normal for now? No major damage just mostly cheap shots at each others fins.

iv seen my pare do this when one wants to breed and the other one is not quite ready. So that could be it.

Keep an eye on them and wait it out if it gets worse split them up.

how long have they been together?

About a week in one tank and then switched to the tank they're in now which would be 4 days. I know this isn't long but with people saying Convicts breed like crazy I guess my expectations were high :p
