Convict Take Over...

you don't need to fillet the convicts, just get them out of the tank and "disable" them then feed to the rbps.
that's what I did when I had my caribes

i have 3 3" p's in a 55 gallon.

i've just put 1 3" and 1 4" convicts in the tank expecting the p's to eat them. they've been in there about a week now and the bigger convict seems to scare the p's.

i still feed my p's once or twice a day, is this why they wont attack the convicts or is it because they are bigger?

Convits are mean fish... They took on my 8 inch p's without fear. You could kill the convict and then let them eat it.

All I know is the convicts I threw in the big fish tank some of them are 75% bigger than thier siblings left in the small tank. Must be something to eating a high protein diet for them afterall. The convicts are starting to figure out the loaches arn't scary though :(

They're probably feeding off the fins and scales of the convict.

yea the convicts are iller than i thought. 2 of the females wont back ever back down to the p's but they got their fins chipped up. i dont mind the convicts, its just the numbers they puttin out. i think im gonna take Experiment's advice and catch em and make convict fillets.

You said you bumped the temp down to 75? Try bumping it up to say 82-84. As I understand more heat = more aggression, more activity so maybe that would help. And also possibly taking one out, putting it in the freezer(whole), and then putting it back in after it has defrosted. If they recognize them all as a sign of food they may start picking them off. Starving them for a while may also help however if you see more aggression from piranha to piranha instead of piranha to convict(or convict to convict considering the p's will take out an injured convict as they would in the wild) i would suggest feeding them before any get seriously harmed. Good Luck!
