Would a breeding pair of convicts be OK in a 20 gal tall? I bought one not knowing there was also a such thing as a 20 gallon long tank.

i have a breeding pair they are still small 3 and 3.5 inches in a 10 gallon. I had 4 danios with them they chewed them up they used to fight but now tht danios are gone they are liking eachother.

The male won't reach the his full size and potential in a 10G necessariily, not bad for them for a while though, but a 20L should do them nicely for a long time.

i three cons in a 20 gallon tall tank.........he alternates with the ladies:naughty: ............

can be done.
i'd be sure to keep minimal gravel/ornaments in the tank and perform at the very least one waterchange each week. if you haven't grabbed a filter yet, be sure to get one a larger size or two that what the sales box recommends. good to overfilter.
and be sure to make/buy a divider for the aggression problems that will occur at times - real handy. good luck

Filter is rated for a 20-40 gal. Have a divider already because the male almost killed the female before I even got them home. Why do you recommend minimal gravel/ornaments? I have a couple inches of course gravel and a couple large flat rocks propped up to form caves right now but I havent reintroduced the cons yet (since the beating), do you think that will cause a problem?
