I just picked up a pair of convicts about 1.5 inches long each. I will be housing them in a 29 gallon set up. I am looking for reccomendations on good tank mates for these 2. I want to breed the convicts for extra feeders.

I would appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks

Eric

i think just the cons in that tank.

is it a breeding pair yet? If yes, only small dithers. Maybe an african butterfly. If not, maybe a pair of firemouths

I just picked them up 2 days ago, so I do not think they are a breeding pair yet. They do however follow each other around constantly.

---> at2 - Love your sig. That movie will definitely make you think a bit differently about the world. At the very least make you think and ask questions.

I'd go for just the Convicts in the tank, anything else like tetras/danios that are worth putting in there will eventually be torn to shreds.

Definitely won't fit a pair of Firemouths and a pair of Convicts in a 29Gal either, that's bad advice.

I have a Striped Anostomus in a 29 gallon tank with a breeding pair of convicts. It's a smart, fast fish that knows not to go near the convicts when they have wigglers. They make great target fish! Mine isn't a pretty one, they usually have red on there fins and tail.

i'm doing the exact same setup for feeders. had to take out the "3rd wheel" once the pair was established. so just keep the two if you are sure they are a mating pair, if not put some more convicts in until you do.
