if i were you i would put multiple hiding spots i had a mf pair of albino convicts and a pair of mf black convicts both in a 55 gallon tank. at first the big albino male took the two females and all 3 fish picked on the black male but once they got confertable they both laid eggs. one pair was on one side of the tank the other pair on the other side. just put lots of cover or caves and you shouldn't have a problem
You will get away with one pair in 30g IMO. I personally think you should let them grow a little longer and remove the lesser looking male and female, rather than have the two males fight over the best female.

What size is your tank? You definitely need many objects to provide hiding places with more fish inside.
Convicts prefer a cave-like place to spawn. It could be rocks placed in a stack, coconut shells, clay pots etc. They might try to spawn at 1/2 inch but they won't lay as many eggs as adults would.
just saw the previous answers. My bad! What they said!
I know which 2 cons paired up already and the other female is next to the heater and the spare male is trying to get the female from the pair, so my question is do i take the spare 2 and put them in the 60 and just leave the pair in the 30?
