convicts breeding with tankmates is that possible?

how did you do that, was the convict a male or female? and can those mix be bread again? let me know the 411 on that. plus i dont know much about firemouth.

the convict was a female and the firemouth was a male... it didn't matter what my water conditions were in my tank these two fish breed all the time... in the summer my water temp would be 80 deg. and in the winter time temp. would be between 76 --> 78 degs.... to keep them from breeding i had to separate them... when the babies got between 6 to 9 months old they had the body of the firemouth and the markings of the convict...

how long did it take for them to start breeding? and how big does the firemouth have to be to breed? how can u tell from male and female firemouth?

i have frys now. i think around 75 to 150

What is the water temp.I have mine at 82 and they hatch in 3-4 days

I'd pull out the rainbows and put them in another tank... The convicts will make it hard on them.
