the fry have been freeswimming for 3-4 maybe 5 days. They have been poking around in the substrate for food, and exploring. the parents are doing there jobs, but they sometimes leave there spots at feeding time.
I just spent 2 hours going through my wardley krll, shrimp pellets and tubifex, and collecting the dust at the bottom. i got a cup of water, and let them soak and sink. i though it in the tank and watched the fry eat. 2 of them got a hold of a tiny peice of krill, and had a tug of war with it just like big cons:popcorn: :D . i went out to the store and got what i need to set up the ten gallon. I'll toss the other juvies in it, and let the fry become more self-dependent, then i'll swap the juvies and fry.
There is an almost 3" blood parrot in the tank, but he is harmless. he is only there till i can find a home for my red devil, then he'll go back in with the 6" blood parrot;)

p.s. I don't have a camera that is good enough to take pics of them at this time. pics will come when they are bigger

You could also simply put some food in a sandwhich bag and crush it with a hammer.

:)

the dust food works well, when I am out though I just grind up flake food between my fingers.

i spoke to soon about the parrot. after i saturated the substrate of the frys area with food, the parrot came in to get some food. the parrents moved the fry to the middle of the tank, where they are getting alot of negative attention. I alredy put the parrot in the 55, but he is being wacked around by the rd ( i'll put rd in a divider). hopfully i can exstract the other cons without upseting the parents and fry to much.

Is it normal for the parents to move the fry often, or is that bad?

sometimes they move them when they feel the current location is unsafe. 1 thing i didnt understanda bout my cons, is they relocated HALF the fry to the center of my tank. but the center of my tank has zero cover and 9 red belly piranhas. my male con almost died from this because he sat in the middle protecting his young with no cover against 9 rbp... freakin weirdo.

Yes the parents will move the fry all over the tank.

Skipper,
Try putting pellets in a pepper grinder. Continuous powder. ;)

well, when i looked in the tank, the parents were dancing with the heard for food, no more fry. the subdominate male was tring his luck with the subdominate female though...
