CONVICTS FINALLY BREEDED (PICS)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I didn't see any plantlife in the photo. Convicts are omnivores...they need to eat a bit of plant material too. Plus the fry will be able to hid in it.

From my own personal experience...if the parents have enough meat and veggies, they will protect their fry and not eat it. I have had to remove fish from a tank because they where being attacked by a breeding pair of convicts.

that's pretty much the jest of it...not to hard to breed.

i had to remove the other male con cause female and male pair was chasing him all day so i moved him to another tank and left them in there alone lol

Did they hatch yet?

I got my first batch of Con's a few weeks ago, I've had swimmers for about 2 weeks now. I thought the parents ate the eggs. I looked at them and an hour later they were gone. Once they hatch the parents will move them. So don't freak out like I did when you see them gone! Mine where wigglers for 4-5 days before free swimming. I've been feeding the parents Flake crisps and Hikari First Bites Fry Food to the little guys. I've never seem them eat anything but they are getting bigger. If you do grind you're own grind to a fine powder. Once you think it's small enough, grind some more.
