hahah r u sure you want to breed convicts!!! once they start they dont stop! make sure you have the fry tank ready so when they lay those eggs, either u wait until u see them free swimming or you can take the eggs and hatch them on the frys tank. . but you wont be able to catch up with the convicts. once u take the eggs out they'll do it again. . i had a breeding pair in my aro tank a couple of years ago and the aro just ate the frys as a snack lol...

The breeding pair will be in a 25g tank (sry I lied about the size:screwy:) and directly underneath that I have a 20g tank which will be a fry tank. Once the fry grow to a half decent size they'll become food for the oscar I plan on putting in my 90 once my clown loaches grow big enough to not get eaten.

The wheels are in motion now... finally.:nilly::headbang2

convicts arent good food, they have rough scales and i dont think they have good meat in them. you can feed them to your oscars, but mix n match every now and then so your oscars gets a balanced diet.

Man o man my should switch my light of next time my girlfriend comes over. My convicts are learning bad habits. two days after putting the female back she was ready for more...

Sry don't mean to derail***Do u have to move the fry after they hatch? Don't they generally raise their young?

The parents will care for and protect them for a few weeks, then they will eat the fry when they are ready to have the next batch. I would put the parents in a smaller breeding tank and remove the parents once the fry are free swimming.
