Convicts spawned need help!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i also have a few other fish in my tank that would love to snack on some baby convicts. what would be the best way to move them? they are still feeding of their yolk sacs i believe so i think its gonna be just about impossible

Just leave them alone. They will be fine, and the parents will take great care of them.
Plus if they do get eaten the cons will spawn again in a few weeks anyway.

most def. leave them be, try frozen baby brine shrimp when they get just a little larger or hikari first bites. its a cruel world for the strong to survive and the weak to be eaten, but thats life, if the mom doesnt eat them then a diff fish in the tank prolly will and then start going for the healthy ones also. so its better for the mom to eat them.

i would think that the convict parents would absolutely defend their young to the death. my pair don't tolerate any crap from any of my other fish.

i woke up this morning to find them all eaten. im pretty sure it was my baby albino channel cat :( time to move them to a temporary ten gallon, and once they spawn im going to move them out.

it might take a few spawns before the parents dont eat the fry, but once they get the hang of things, you will have more fry than you know what to do with. If your wanting to keep the fry, then dont move the parents after the spawn, move the fry. Wait until they become free swimming for a few days and siphon the fry into the 10 gal. This will speed up the process of the next spawn. Good luck.

I feel sorry for the channel cat wh

when they do spawn again...
