Anyone ever do this? They were bought as dithers but the bass leave them alone completely. They just has there first successful group of fry last night and I think it's cool my bass will get a healthy live snack naturally once and while during there growout stages. The fry are so small now where the bass don't even notice. Probably the healthiest feeders ever lol.

I tried this eventually the convicts overtook the tank . The pairs successfully defended their fry against all comers . Had to remove them manually . GL with your project !

Thanks all, Mr Pleco I hope that is not the case for me lol. This all happend by mistake basically I just got two convicts cause they were 15 cents a piece and it happend to be male and female. Strollo I agree and I really have no problem losing them down the road :). My bass are 5-6 inches I think so I'm just hoping at the moment they are too small to even notice the fry. I'm curious to see how this plays out.

careful...cons are crazy SOBs with fry and will defend them agents everything.

The only fish I have seen successfully take fry from convicts is a pack of about 12 danio fish..while some are getting beaten up the rest are snacking on the newly swimming fry.

good luck.

Pics of your setup and fish? :)
