Hey everyone about a month ago i noticed my female mbuna wasn't eating, did a little research and found out she had babies in her mouth. After hand stripping them from her mouth in a 10 gallon they've gotten a decent size. but i don't know who the dad is haha. i have a red top zebra male, 2 yellow lab males, 1 male bumblebee, and 1 large male convict. the babies have a stripe on their top fin like the lab but also kind of look like the zebra, what are some possibilities of the pair?

Cannot breed with convict. Your suspect would be the other mbunas.

Feed them off to your other fish now before they get to big. They are culls and nothing more. It doesn't matter what the father is, and you should be responsible and not raise crosses.

Do not preach anti-hybrids here, They are not all culls, it is the decision of the keeper to keep or not to.

x2 . . . I would only add one thing: while it is up the fishkeeper to decide what to do with any hybrids, it would be irresponsible to allow them to enter into the fish trade . . .

Some people make it seem like a hybrid's existence is a scar on the planet :grinno: (and no, I don't crossbreed myself). I think it's pretty cool as long as you don't sell them.. that's when they become a problem for the hobby.

a CA cichlid cannot produce fry with a Rift Lake cichlid as Lupin said...however, I think that the resulting fry should be culled unless you want to keep just a few for your personal tank, but preferably not

i personally would keep some just to see what they grow like,

do u have any pics ?
