i have a 2" male and 3" female convict but they are lip locking and not pair up? what should i do??? The only tank i had is a 10gal so that what there in right now....

If you're looking to breed them add another female and some pvc fittings they can fit into. Adding another female will spread out the aggression.. You never no the male may pair off with both females(I've had that happen--fry at both sides of the aquarium). I bred cons for feeders until my wife saw the babies-lol...Now I have a tank full of pink/black con crosses.

PM me if you have any questions,

Chris

Its a 10gal. Barely enough space for 1 con. They could lip-locking for a number of reasons. Chances are they are A-holes like most convicts and want to kill everything. Once 1 summits to the others dominance there will be alot of chasing and nipping.

I cant believe people are suggesting more fish for a 10gal. Maybe get a 20gal and 4 females and see who the male picks. That will usually work. Id say 7/10 times any male and female will breed and be fine. But cons are notorious for getting nasty and arent always civil.

I thought the same thing, I figured they just didn't notice it was ten gallons:screwy:

I'd say just find yourself a 20gal for them and then wait (im)patiently. Thats what I'm doing. Mine seem to be getting a long, but it took a good week or two before they would pay eachother any attention at all. I did switch the female out on him after a week or so of being alone with one female. I decided she was too small and swapped her out for a larger female (I now have the pair in my 20 and a pair of females in my 65)

Moloch and FishingOut that have pair up now so its all good and a 10gal is all i have right now my dad would have a cow if he knew.... :grinno:
