Convicts?

Your grammar doesn't really make any sense in that post...not sure what you're trying to say.

If you can't get a tank to accommodate breeding convicts, don't breed convicts. If all you can have is a 10gal, get something like a betta or guppies or something in that vein.

As mentioned previously...I wouldn't even keep a single convict in a 10gal, that just seems absurd to me.

Try talking to your dad about what you're wanting to do, scour craigslist for a good deal on a 20gal tank. You already have a filter on your 10 right? Do a search on DIY sponge filters and use one of those + your current filter so the cost isn't much more than buying the tank. Show that to your dad. If you do things right you can probably get a 20 up & running for little to no cost. Check petco right now they're doing a 1$ per gallon sale. From there you just need some sort of a lid, light, (maybe) heater & filtration. The hood you can just use eggcrate (sidenote: do cons jump? Maybe you don't need a hood at all) for lights you could probably get away with just a table lamp, the light on your 10gal, or something else like that.

Basically what I'm saying is, do some research on how to set up a 20 on the cheap with what you already have and what you can make. Present this research to your dad, show that you're interested enough in this to put the time in on this legwork. Maybe he'd be interesting in building some of this stuff with you.

If you still can't sell him on the idea of a larger tank, then take your fish back to the LFS and get something that fits in your tank.

edit: your gallery makes it look like you have something much larger than a 10gal...I see different cichlids, eels, a bichir...I'm not quite following you at this point.

I would suggest a 20-29gal tank as well.

Do not add a 3rd con to a 10g

One suggestion is to find someone that wants a lot of convicts first. Even if they were to breed in a 29 gallon or even a 55 gallon, they would quickly overpopulate the tank. I used to have some in a 55 gallon. 2 pairs in a 55 gallon around 2-3 inches each fish. Once they started breeding there was no end to it. I sold them all to a guy that had a 160 gallon tank ( at least thats what he said). $10 for the 4 adults and around 80 babies.
Point being-they bred like no tomorrow once they start.
Best of luck though.

I have a 20long but i can't use to for the convicts because it for angelfish and my dad have no clue about the 10gal he will be mad at me and i need the convict for food... so all i can do is a 10gal sorry...

How old are you?

How in the hell are you hiding a ten gallon fish tank with fish from your dad? You need it for food? No you don't.

You aren't going to be breeding a staple food source from one set of convicts in a ten gallon tank. Sorry dude. All your fry will be eaten before they're even of feeding size anyways. I'm trying to breed in a 20 and hoping that once every couple months I get maybe 20 or 30 fry out of to give my fish a treat. If you want a staple food source (in other words, if you want to fill a need for fish food) off convict fry, you want something like a 4foot long tank divided into 3 sections with a breeding pair in each, and a separate 20gal tank for a growout if/when the adults start eating the fry.

I'm not gonna continue helping you hide a tank from your dad so that you can keep fish in that have no business in a tank of that size and breeding them with no real chance of fry survival.

Best of luck. You want my advice, grow a set of balls and go talk to your dad about what you want to do. Or grow a set of balls and man up to the fact that you can't do this right now and move on. You try and keep up with this hairbrained idea and its not going to end well for you or for the fish.

She ain't gonna listen. Don't waste your time getting frustrated

Yeah, Im not condoning hiding tanks from your parents either. Thats pretty selfish, Your other tanks don't need live foods. If you cant take proper care of the fish and be responsible, you don't deserve to keep fish.
