Convitct Problem

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
the con I have in my 10 gallon (isolating him from the 75 untill the other severums and such fins grow back) is at least 3 inches long and 2 inches tall.

he doesn't even try to fight with the little african who is maybe an inch and a half long.

I think you could breed convicts in a bucket as long as they are the only fish in there there shouldn't be much aggression.

I only noticed aggression when my cons were breeding in my 75 with other fish.

they they bred in my 20 long they never had torn fins or anything.

I don't think it woudl be that detrimental to breed cons in a 10, I mean jack wattley breeds discus in 15s and breeding size discus are much bigger than 1 inch cons and are much harder to take care of.

I say go for it.

I would NOT suggest breeding cons in a 10. The aggression level would be high and eventually if you don't give enough cover one of them will die, usually the female. 29 gallon is ABSOLUTE minimum for a breeding pair of cons.

1 INCH cons can breed in a ten ALL DAY.......I have done it too many times to think otherwise. I breed them when they are small, and then put them in big tanks when I have what I need.....
