Hey guys, i got rid of my flowerhorns and i am looking to get started on new fish, anyways i was wondering if u guys could list some cool aggressive fish??? i know about the cichlids and was looking for something different...... im not interested in fish that get outragesly big or anything (30 inches plus)...... so do u guys have any suggestions?

Tank size? Do you want tankmates or would a solo fish work for you? Feed agressive or agressive in nature? Seeing how you came off flowerhorns, do they need to have lots of color as well?
Please be a little more specific in what your looking for, as otherwise the list is pretty long.

right now i have a 55, and a 100, i can use either one as a grow out tank, and id like to have tankmates as well, not many, but looks are not important, by aggressive i meen aggressive in nature....

Well lets see, if you are looking for something other than cichlids have u ever thought about the hoplias family. You have the red hi-fin wolves, Gold wolves, and Common Wolves. All three are less active for the most part than most cichlids except at night since they tend to be more active nocturnally. But these guys are Super Aggressive and they get meaner as they go up in size. The Red Hi-Fins get between 8-10in, Gold wolves get around 16-18in, and the Commons get anywhere from 20-24in. The Commons are the least active out the three, but the meanest and jus cuz they dont move alot doesnt mean they are slow. They are incredibly fast and accurate and have the jaws of pitbulls...Ive seen em in action. Since you are in the US Snakeheads of course are illegal if im not mistaken. Gobies arent really aggressive unless you are something half they're size, they eat like PIGS...LOL...Or if you are wanting to try something really different maybe Fahaka puffers....great fish lots of personality and are super aggressive. Hope this helps...;)

The hoplias sound like cool fish, i know a little about them , i have never owned any though, so are they solo fish or what? yeh snakeheads are illegal to own here haha sux, so are all the wolf fish nocturnal?

The main things with Wolves is they really dont like their own species. The smalles of the three would be the easiest to have in a tank with other fish, it would be better to put them with fish a little larger and that can also stand their ground. But with any wolf you are taking a gamble as I have also bn told on here and when things go wrong with wolves it gets bad real quick cuz the fish they attack probably wont survive. But if your tank is large enuff who knows each fish is different and they all have different personalites. Im in the process of getting a common wolf soon and I cant wait. People tend to only dislike the fact that they dont swim around as much as other fish. From what I know all three are more active with dim light or no light but the smaller two do move quite a bit more than the common. All three are great fish its just what u want, some people like a fish who moves around alot and some want a PURE PREDATOR. The 100 could last the smallest wolf for life and a gold wolf for a good while. I believe the minimum for the common wolf is a 120. But the 100 could be used for a growout on the larger two for a good amount of time. They do grow fast though but slow down after about 15in if im not mistaking.

By aggressive do you mean a big eater or just a fish with an attitude?

Fish with an attitude would of been a better description........

BTW is that a butti in your av? never seen one with a yellow face

You might be looking for something like a bowfin but they get real big and would outgrow that 100 gallon.
