Cool beginner fish for a 90 gallon display tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
We always have to assume any fish is at it's wild, adult size or should certainly take that size/bioload into consideration.

Tusks get to be 8" or 10". Although I agree with the diagnoses of keeping one in a 125g, I think that this fish could probably be kept in a 90.

It is a large active fish though. So feel for its wants and desires of swimming space.

I am sure if you have owned a wrasse, you know they need more swimming space than any other fish. I feel bad for my 5 inch dragon wrasse in my 125, he uses the whole tank!

ive got a ******, fox face, one oscillaris, one choclate oscillaris(the pair of them stay together in their own little hole),choris gamardy, and a tomatoe clown(who only THINKS he is boss) all living contently:D

True. I want a dragon wrasse in my 125...but I have seen them in action at large sizes. They wreak complete havoc. Say good bye to your rock structure.

Thanks scalesandfins!

 no prob fleshy! you have help me alot, you deserve it. just keep up the good work ;)

and to that stocking of that 800... my friend has a 120 like my fresh tank with 21 fish. the smallest being about 3in being his maroon clown and biggest is prob the emperor angel he got from me at about 6in
he is a bit over stocked. he is pretty much an idiot tho. his death toll on his salt tanks is prob close to 60 fish :( i always rag on him bc of it hoping he will learn. but not yet. his most recent kill was a harl tusk :(

The thing is...you can push your "limits" a lot...its just a matter of what you think is ethical for the fish, and of how experienced and dedicated you are. I have had overstocked tanks. Did I put in the work? Yes. Were they still generally unstable systems prone to having issues, YES!

Double edged sword.

Thanks again scalesandfins, Im glad that I could be a help.
