the one on the right looks mud turtle-ish to me (not saying it is but i just never seen this type)

Nope, they're not muds even though they have plain shells like muds. These are the only true aquatic Terrapene species.

No almost nobody has them wich is a shame because they are very hardy. If I stend correct only CBW permit holders can have them;)

a thread i did a while ago about tortoise rescue. I have seen a "rock" tortoise, but it was closed so i wondered what it looked like when opened.
The sistem its basicly the same but thouse are asian boxys and these are north american boxys:D
They belong in diferent but close turtle familys called Emydae(as for north american boxys along side sliders, painteds, cooters, etc) and Bataguridae(for asian boxys alongside painted terrapins, black marsh, spanish terrapins, chinese ponds, etc)

Very very few people have them in private collections, but they will eventually become a available. The price thou wont be cheap. They're neat, but really they're not that special, Its just a drab colored box turtle that lives in the water more than on land. heck if you like that get a gulf coast box turtle. I've worked with them before, and they're pretty aggressive little guys. Lots of issues with over grown beaks and malformed shells.
