im in the process of looking for a new job, which could include long distance travel so im looking for ideas on somewhat cool cars that get great gas mileage, but also on the cheap side.

the 2011 focus seems ok, also like the 2011 kia optima but getting on the high side of $$$ considering im looking for a job.

ideas?

he said cool cars. volt does not qualify.....

hondas new sport hybrid?

I sense an oxymoron.

You don't have to get a hybrid or an electric car to be good on gas mileage. Change the way you drive, not your car.

All I know, is stay away from a Ford GT.

ok hows this, i currently drive a company vehicle. with a new job i wont have a personal vehicle, only the family van that must stay home with the wife and kids. i dont neccisarily(?) want an electric/hybrid, but i also dont want to drive something that get 13mpg(well i do want but cant have).

'11 mini cooper gets around 30 mpg city. Small engine makes it not that fun to driveeeee, but quite affordable gas wise. Only problem is they're around 20k new.

A ford Fiesta would do you well at the pump. Since I don't know your budget and what you're willing to spend on the actual purchase of the car, I can't really give in depth suggestions. :)

Though if you really want to impress some soccer moms, you can roll by in a Nissan leaf. 30k and you pay 90 cents to drive 25 miles on average.

And that's 106 mpg combined with electricity.
