That's cool, also importing tropical marine fish isnt an issue in Canada (unless they are on cites non tradeable list), as they cannot become invasive (as they wouldnt survive the winter) you only need an import permit for cold water salties and fresh (like koy/salmoniods etc) at least thats what I have found when I read up on it a wile back... I could see US customs being annoyed about it for "exporting taxs/terriffs and what not"... but they would never hear about it haha.

I live in New York, my dream is to get some of my family who are reef enthusiast and drive down to florida....catch fish in holding tanks....then drive back to new york lol

Then again everything would have to be on battery....

WELL... you could technically ship them via airmail... if you have someone that could pick them up... and know someone in florida that can Oxygen package fishbags (using pure O2 in the bag along with the water). That said, a good battery a low power airator, and a couple large rubber made tubs (bigger is better) and you could probably do it reasonably easily via driving, doing a partial water change on the way back every so often...

Thanks for the hope lol, probably gonna be awhile until I take that on...I wonder what kind of rare fish that live in florida.

Also what really brought me to the idea of catching and selling fish from florida is the prices of the "Look Downs" in new york. Most sites price them more then $100 each at like 5 inch or more....however in florida I catch massive ones on sabiki rigs in search for quality bait....good profit lol however they require large tanks.

Now THAT would be illegal. Besides the cost of driving down, staying in a hotel, and driving back would eliminate your profit by a long shot.

i was just diving in key west a couple weeks ago and saw some awesome stuff I would love to have back in my tank. The fire corals (millepora alcicornis) is on my extreme wish list. I am however painfully aware of the illegal nature of taking them :(
