It's because there are around 70 species of Hemidactylus and most of them look very the similar and can be found all over the world far from their normal range. So unless you are familiar with Guatemala's native and non-native wildlife you can't be 100% sure its a Mediterranean.

Guatemala??? it says hes from florida, like me, and there are only a few introduced geckos, and only one here that looks like that

:grinyes: Can also be a hybrid;) I herd that in some islands of the Pacific a exotic hemidactylus is both dominating and hybridizing with the native one. Dont know however wich species they are and were the thing is happening. Can however try to find the paper:D
