It's possible I guess. I had 11 Balas in the same tank, all the same age, 10 over a foot long and 1 that only ever reached 4-5". In fact, just recently I had three more of which one had the same problem. Juvenile dawfism is what they call it I think. Apperently a common problem within the trade.

I cant really say why he hasnt grown but yes he has been in our 750 since BIG MACK our big rtc went to Stienhardts aquarium in sanfrancisco

One of my Bala's seems to have that problem. All the rest are now at the 5-6" mark but this little fella is just techniquely 1.5-2" shorter from the point of the tailm but if you compared them in a photo, he looks 1/3 the size of the biggest.
