Thanks everyone... I always thought the oscars colors fade when they reach around 4" then brighten back up to juvie colors and patterns around 8"?

As long as their water is kept clean (nitrates at 15 and under), and they're fed a varied diet (including color pellets wont hurt) they will keep the vibrancy of their color from juveniles to adults.

But as we all know, genetics can be a b*tch, so there's no way to stop them from turning black if it's in their genes. However, your pieces are pretty clean considering their size (if they're gonna turn black, it usually shows up by that size), so my guess would be no black is going to show up. Especially if they're from china... China knows how to breed fish. :D

It looks like an inverted pattern, reminds me of the motley pattern of cornsnakes. Congrats! Can't wait to see more of these for sale.

Anyone else know anything about them possibly being a new form from China? I was kinda hoping I found something unique...

really pretty color and pattern.. are these alot more money if you did not get the good deal?.. what did the LFS say. they were called... I saw the blue berry Oscars but they were just dyed that blue.. if these are for real they are gorgeous.

Great fish!

They are definitely not dyed... I wouldnt have bought them if they were. They were labeled as albino oscars. I don't bother asking questions at the LFS because most of them know squat. I just saw them and said to myself those are the albinos I have been waiting to buy.

Howdy,

Sorry to be the first one to break the news to you, but they are diseased. The only way to save them is sending them over. I'll cure them in my tanks :D

Nice pick-up
