Cooling my 450 - Trying something new.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
60s and 70s here in Norcal today...50s at night :)

I use to work a lot up in San Jose. Stayed in a Marriott in Sunnyvale for months. Went to the Winchester house and all that.....
I don't miss the traffic but sure was an awesome place to live.

Added a "6 pack" of fans to my 360. The 360 is 4 feet deep so its harder to cool. I figured the added fans would help. I will update in a day or so.

Something I have done in the past is take and fill an ice chest with a bag of ice. Put a tuperware bowl inside the ice chest and put the air pump in the bowl so it doesn't get wet. The cold air being pumped in the tank cooled the water faster IME because the cold bubble was in contact with the water column longer than the fan blowing semi warm air at the surface.

Interesting. I was going to put a small fridge near the tanks for fish food and beer. I can easily run an air line through the freezer section....

Or better yet, a powerhead in the sump pumping water through tla linr that is wrapped around the cooling element coils ;) use the power your already paying for with the fridge.
