Here's what I've learned in my short time with being on this site. Most people won't help you unless youu can prove you have a proper tank setup for the fish you intend to put into it. To me, I'd say you need at least a 100+ gallon tank to successfully house either type of bass in it for a little while. I think a lot of people will agree or even add that you need an even bigger tank. I say this because bass and cichla both grow fairly fast and its easier just to start out with a large tank. LMB's can get 20+ inches long and I think certain cichla will become 30+ inches long, if you can keep them alive long enough. Just my 2 cents, take it or leave it.

well over a 100 gallon if youre intentions are to keep the fish for life. If all you have is a 30 gallon that is fine but dont be fooled into thinking you can keep either bass in that tank for any amount of time without IMO being cruel to the fish.

I agree 100%!

Check it, If you want or even attempt to keep P.bass I would suggest orino's and kelberi's. There growth rate is slower then mono's, tem's, azul's, ocell's. So, if you really want to raise p.bass, I would go with orino's and kelberi's for the 30gal grow out. But, take in consideration that they will not last long in a 30 gal. Small p.bass requires a lot of food (do to their high metabolism) in the younger years, so starving them under 5'' is not recommended. If you want tangledupincichlids has orino's and mono's. snooken1 has Guyana ocell's (in Florida).

IMO....do not commit to p.bass if your planning on keeping them in a 30gal for more then 6 months. But you are your own person. Do what you want.

P.S. Do research on the web for info on P.bass and Large mouth Bass.:uhoh:

Just wait till you have the tank setup dude there is no hurry.... In the mean time you can make plans and do you're research on which ever fish you choose. Also you should know that there are about 15 species of Pbass and some need more space than others. You will need at least a 300 gallon tank for a smaller pbass i.e. (ocellaris).

is $425 too much for 150 gallon

My local shops sell a 125-135 for 399. It really depends......on craiglist you can get used one for like 100-200 bucks for 100-200 gallons.
