Copepods infestation on freshwater tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Not to hijack this thread, but I just noticed a similar outbreak in my new 180 (no fish in it yet). I also noticed them in my 55 gallon, and I think they might be the reason my bichir is acting so strange. Since they seem to inhabit mostly the top layer of my sand, I'm not even sure my UV would get rid of them.

Is there anything that can be done to get rid of them without harming my fish? I'm not a huge chemical guy, but I'll do it if it will get rid of these things. Or what about ghost shrimp? Would they eat these things?

Thanks, and again, sorry for the pseudo-hijack.

Ghost shrimp probably would. I'm sure banjo cats would too.
