Coppernose Bluegill

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Florida has few subspecies of bluegills so coppernose isn't only subspecies in Florida.

Thats fine with me. I'm just looking for a larger growing type of Bluegill, preferably a subspecies that gets large enough to develop the "pseudo-nuchal hump" that Coppernose seem to get as they grow.

Good luck with that one! Not easy to grow a hump on sunfish especially in captivity conditions.

I think they sell them. I think they only have coppernose since (from what I remember) they breed their sunfish. I will get pictures tonight. Also one of my bluegills has the red fins and bands, but is very dark in color. He is a very dark blue with red fins. Is this a color variant or a subspecies? I will post pictures as soon as possible.
