Coral/argonite sand

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You guys must have pools in Jolly Ole England with filters. No pool supply store around? That's where we get it.

Cold country! no need for pools!! We do have a Beach a lot closer than most of you guys tho :P

i always get mine from the home improvement stores here, Lowes and Home depot always have big bags of it in the outdoor section where the stones are. but yeah i dont know if they would have the same thing in england...

My friend has aragonite w/ his FHs b/c he likes the way it looks and they've been fine for over a year now.
yeah with just FH it should be ok its with some of his other fish that there would be problems

i have crushed corals mixed with white gravel. my flower horns are fine.

Is it only my Severums that will suffer? I am planning on getting them there own tank soon.

the severums, GT, pleco, and the blood parrots (who have Sa cichlids mixed into them) would not really like the higher pH, i don't know if it would actually harm them if they are all captive bred but i still don't think it would be good for any of those listed fish in the long term to be kept in such hard water

Blood Parrots are soley central American cichlids, they are a third generation beteween Red Devil, Vieja Syns and Midas, re-crossed with a Red Devil.

The fish we know as 'Gold Severum' is 'Heros Efaciatus' the fish known as 'Gold Severum' in Taiwan is 'Jin Gang Ying Wu' which is a large hybrid yellow hybrid that cannot close its mouth.

So to put it in short

Red Devil x Vieja Syns =
Prototype parrot Breeder
Prototype x Midas =
Jin Gang Ying Wu (False Gold Severum)
Jin Gang Ying Wu x Red Devil = Blood Parrot
Blood Parrot x Midas = King Kong Parrot

Just a bit of info there :P

But thanks on the info for my GT and Plec, the Heros will get there own tank soon because i want to breed them without the stress of the other fish, plus my flowerhorns are now breeding so theres a big issue for space :)
