we got a corl catshark in the store yesterday and it started to swim abnormaly like it would swim upside down and lay on its back so i tested the water and it was 5 ppm nitrates. so i moved it thinking it was that and also think it was low oxagination. but any other ideas i dont want to loss the shark because i am planning to take it home.

We'll send you right over.....you're a pro at burping those guys now!
(And I agree, sounds like an internal air issue - whether it was swallowed or a bladder problem.)

just got my coral cat yest. I heard horror stories of abnormal swimming which had lead to death. Luckily mine is doing just fine. Will post pics as soon as i get my camera back

Someone should probably move this to its own thread, but any. Well I personly have had zero experence with shark, but my dad kept leaperd sharks before they were illeagal. I think I am planning on a 100 gallon grow out tank for a coral catshark. Some people say thats too small for a full grown coral cat, so thats why I will probably move it into a 270 gallonn when it gets big. They harder to keep than a reef tank, but require less light ( saves you a lot of money) You may need to feed it live food when you first get BTW.

Oh and you shoulndt probably get the most commen pet shark black banded catshark IMO they grow over 3 feet long and need a huge tank.
