Yes, sounds possible. Need some more information however. How big are they going to be when you get them? What sort of filtration are you running? Skimmer? Chiller?

With this info, people will be able to give you a better answer/insights.

Filtration will be a sump with fuge and asm g3 skimmer and live rock, deciding on whether to use a 40 or 100g I have for the sump. When the 300 comes I will step up the filtration.
Dunno on shark size. Suggestions?

No chiller, we keep the house cool during summer months.

This is still in planning as the tank is currently fw.

Have you found a source for them yet? Most vendors have a waiting list to get them.

Actually it's quite possible since Coral catsharks only grow to be about 24-28 inches as full grown adults.

A standard 180 gallon tank (6ft x 2 ft x 2 ft) - should fine for keeping a couple of Coral Catshark pups for a year or so. As full grown adults - personally I would suggest something like a 480-500 gallon (8ft long x 4 ft wide x 2 ft deep) for a pair of them.

Remember Coral Catsharks are very active for a benthic shark, and they need room. Coral Catsharks rarely walking on their fins -like Bamboos & eppies do. Rather they swimming - similar to a small elonged requiem shark.

this is good to hear and also why i have chosen to do the coral catsharks. of course i will want to go larger than the 300 in the future but i have to take "baby steps" with the wife and huge tanks in the house.

as far as a source for the sharks i havent looked, but im shure with some of the major players on here i could source them when the time comes.

Sounds like a good plan to me,

I would choose the bigger sump if at all possible, bigger is always better in this hobby.

good luck with your coral cat shark plan, they are my fav marine species for aquariums :D

All you need for sharks is to focus on mechanical filtration and biological. A good canister, pt skimmer and plenty of surface area for bacteria will do. No need for a sump at all if you don't want/need the extra water volume.

Agree with zoo diver. I have a 600 gallon with two canister filters live rock and a skimmer. Water quality is perfect and sharks are extremely healthy and eating.
