Some of you guys may already be familiar with this story but for everyone else here is what happened:

So I was at work the other day when I got a call from a regular customer saying he had a coral snake and wanted to know if anyone in the shop wanted it (if not they were going to keep it themselves and knowing they had never touched a hot before, I said I would take it for them). To make a long story short, the customer came in with his daughter who was carrying the snake in an extremely thin mesh bag. The bag was so thin in fact that you could see straight through it. To make matters worse, his daughter was supporting the snake so that he hands were wrapped around the body of the snake in the bag. I understand that they do not bite often but with no antivenin available would you really want to take that chance- let alone your grade school aged daughter? I quickly took it off of their hands and boxed it up in a more secure container and railed them as politely as possible for endangering their lives.

I kept the snake for about a week and attempted to feed it frogs, geckos, skinks, and snakes but after none of that worked, I decided to let it go after I grabbed some photos of it. enjoy.

This is why they are so hard to find in the wild. Even though I knew exactly where to look, I could not see it. This was not tall grass either.

wow thats crazy. good save though

Sad he wouldnt eat for ya. Cool snake though

It was a wild animal put back in the wild...

Chris, was that a baby? I found an Eastern Milksnake baby out in the yard during a snow thaw one time and had a similar experience with feeding...on the last day before I put it in the crawlspace to find itsef a safe place to sleep the winter away, I got it to eat raw scrambled egg. I ended up setting it free anyways though.

WOW REALLY CHRIS Now all the coral snakes in FL are exposed to wheatever that captive had and seeing how it wasn't eating thats a huge risk letting that possible diseased infested animal back into the wild populations.
Does your hot permitt in FL allow you to release infected animals back into the wild.
