Coral snake?

There's different types, the amount of red varies. If you check out your first picture about 3/4 of the way down you can see them starting, and then on the second picture right before it goes past your hand. The one in the picture I put up lives further west than texas so it's probably the wrong subspecies. - N

Here's one out of Az., a little closer to you. You can see the reduced red, and the elongated snout-N

Well thanks for the info. I'm still kinda uneasy and not sure. But at least I got an idea.

And just a heads up, they're mildly venomous :) ....but so are garters and watersnakes. - N
 
Ok thanks. I believe you. The one from Arizona definitely resembles it.
 
and i live in south texas. south of san antonio
 
And let's say it maybe is a new subspecies. Who would I tell or where would I go ?
