Coralife

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
there are two models:

a freshwater version (the one you are looking at) that has a 6700K bulb and a pink colourmax bulb.

a saltwater version which has a 10,000K bulb and a blue actinic bulb.

I like the combo of 10,000K and the pink one (which is not available - you have to switch one bulb), so for me, it wouldn't matter which one I would get, I would change out the respective bulb lol

I have 3 of the FW lights and they are great.I would,or more than likely will, buy more of them when needed. I have all of mine on lowlight planted tanks.

The construction isn't the best quality. It's pretty pricey for what is essentially a home depot shop light with some mylar film behind it as a reflector. The only difference is the coralife comes with aquarium-specific lamps. The mounting legs are pretty cheesy too, but that didn't concern me, as I mounted it in a canopy. But it does what it's supposed to do, it lights up. Keep in mind that this is a standard output fixture, and not a HO like alot of typical aquarium T-5s. All in all, it's decent, but I won't be buying another one.

Its a good low-cost fixture. There's better, but you'd have to pay more. If I had to do over again, I'd have spent the extra 15 bux & go with the Nova Extreme T5HO. I love mine though & my low-light plants love it too.

i have the dual strip 48" on my 225 wide from charlie. check out how much it lights up my tank. i like this light a lot
