we had a kingsnake freak out when she ate a pinky one time.. refused to eat anything but green anole lizards and house geckos for over a year. got kinda expensive too.

but when she was finally big enough to eat fuzzies we tried again and she hasn't refused a mouse since then. she's eating small adults now, live only, not prekilled. we tried all the tricks to get her to eat dead mice, it was a lost cause.

Wow thats rare as kings are great eaters. I am assuming CA king ?

Only because when most say King they mean that type.

I have Arizona Mt kings and Ruthvens never had any problems but have heard horror stories about some of the non CA kings .

I do have a runt f that is 2 yrs old and only 16 inches big eats one pinkie a week will NOT touch anything but a pinkie and than no more than one.

yea, Coretta is a banded CA kingsnake. she's still a little prissy about what mouse she will eat and when, but i won't buy her anymore lizards. She nearly adult size now, if she doesn't eat what is offered she can do without till the next feeding. i only bought the anoles for her when she was tiny and i was afraid she was going to starve if she didn't eat. the house geckos were free (we pulled them off my ex-hubby's house in Phoenix).

Okay thanks. That is unusual because CA kings are eating machines nothing timid about them ofcourse always an exception.

Agree gotta give us a bit of info here! If you are keeping them together, isolate the non feeder.

i've kept cornsnakes together with no issues, but at feeding time one went in a paper bag and the other ate in the tank.

i also do this with my baby bullsnakes, but only because they were fighting over a pinky when they were tiny and one of them started to swallow the other.. so now they eat separately.

Well good news yesterday after I got home from work I tried another oinky but soaked it in the chicken broth and she ate! So finally I got her to take another pink. And I never new you should keep corns seperated I had never had a problem with all of the ones I keep. But thanks everyone for all of the help.

You don't have to, but if you have a snake that is off feed and not doing well common sense says to seperate it if it has a problem in case it can be passed onto your other animals. Snakes aren't sociable animals and many people choose to keep them seperate for several reasons such as a) which is which b) no problems at feeding time c) if there is a problem with one snake, you will know which one it is etc. You should never keep females and males together if the female is not old enough to be bred.
