Hi Everyone. New to the board, but wanted to throw a topic out there. I'm super intrigued by the plywood tank idea. Has any tried to build a corner tank? Are there any other consideration when building a corner vs. a square tank other than the angles? Any reason why this wouldn't work? Does anyone have any plans or pictures I could review before I begin planning mine?

Thanks.

Here are a copule of photos of a plywood tank I built for my Motoros. The tank is 86" x 38" x 30". The back and bottom are 3/4" plywood. For the front and sides of the tank I used 2x4 with a grove to hold the glass in place. The sump / wet dry below the tank is also plywood.

Just painted the wood with epoxy based paint and used silicon to seal the glass front and sides. It has been up and running for over two years with no issues.

How many gallons were you thinking?

I would make it a bit taller myself if i had a corner tank. But it is all personal preference depending upon what you want to keep in it. that being said, since it is a corner tank, why not optimize the space and go big!
