Here are a copule of photos of a plywood tank I built for my Motoros. The tank is 86" x 38" x 30". The back and bottom are 3/4" plywood. For the front and sides of the tank I used 2x4 with a grove to hold the glass in place. The sump / wet dry below the tank is also plywood.

Just painted the wood with epoxy based paint and used silicon to seal the glass front and sides. It has been up and running for over two years with no issues.

That is a beautiful piece of work!!!

It's a Red Eared Slider. I don't have the money right this minute, so he's still stuck in a 30 gallon tank. But, we usually get him in a kiddie pool over the weekends. He's just gotten so much bigger and messier....I've gotta do something. Money is tight as my wife has Multiple Sclerosis, so we have medical bills out the wazzoooo. I figured to get the right size for him, the DIY plywood would be the most economical. What do you guys suggest for a filter for this thing? I have a magnum 350 set up now, but it seems to get clogged so quickly and the flow is really reduced within a week.
