Hay all i went to my lfs the other day to see if they still had an ornate that had been there for a little while because i was feeling sorry for him as the price was way to high for people that arnt completely engrosed with them to pay.
Well as it goes one of the shops staff had bought him ( alot less than the retail price i bet ) but whilst talking to him he i noticed that although he called the polypterus by the same names i did he however pronounced it totaly different and now i`m curious as to weather i`m in the wrong or he`s in the wrong or if it`s just a case of say it however you want to.

So here goes i`m going to break down the names of the fish i have in a way that it will sound like the way i say it.... sort of.. lol

lapradei = lap rai de

delhezi = del he ze

endlicheri endlicheri = en d li cher re

ornatipinnis = or nate i pin is

senegalus senegalus = sen gar lus

weeksii = week see

I know it sounds strange to ask this but for example the person at the shop would say
endlicheri endlicheri = end le cluer i

And the others i can`t even remember....lol

bi-sheer
bi-cur
i've heard all of them

you forgot "brichir"...don't know why people always want to sneak another "r" in there :)

huh haven't heard that one

by bea i mean't beh

beh-sheer

Bircher is my favorite. Like a fish that lives in trees. LOL

Keep in mind most, or all, of the naming comes from latin. In latin, the ch is pronounced ck or k. Like Biker or Brikardi.
