Cost of Rays

Hi and thanks for looking at my post.

I'm wondering what a "fair" retail price for a FW Ray should be. I'm in New England, and a LFS had a couple of captive bred Marble Motora's for $300 each last month, They have sold, and when I inquired if he could get more he said that they would be $525 each, because he mis-priced the other two. I'm in the research phase of getting a FW Ray, so I'm just looking for some input.
Another Ray that he might get is a wild caught red caqueta for approx $350.

I realize that prices probably vary by breed, geography, and whether or not they are wild caught or captive bred.

that is way over priced if they are pups a marble motoro pup should sell between 200-400. if you going to buy one u should by it of vendors on here. Andi dont know about that other ray
 
The appeared to be about 4-5 inches around, so I don't think they were pups. They had come from a "local" breeder as would the next ones.

Thanks for your comments and suggestion of using a forum vendor.
 
The breeder he is buying them from probably sells them to him for about 100.00 or so I'm guessing, then he jacks up the price so he can make his chunk of change, but 525.00 is way overpriced even for captive bred. 300.00 is pushing it too. Try one of the site sponsors, or get hooked up directly to a breeder.
 
FYI~ Red Caqueta is a term for the red variant of P. Reticulata.. Seems to mature and breed at a smaller size.

Both are a bit overpriced IMO.. depends alot on locality and the LFS. Definitely try getting some rays from a Vendor. Mike was selling nice sized Marble Motoros for like $200 I think?
 
well for about 500 you could get a pair from mike(h2ocustomaquatics) shipped to you..... also rosewood has captive motoro pups for 125.00....go for the vendors on here you'll get better rays for a lot less....
