We have a 6" GT and a 4" blue acara they have been together for about 4 months, during the past months we have had to take the acara out and put him elsewhere as he was constantly chasing the GT. He still likes to chase the GT but think the GT has learned that if he stays out of his way it will be ok. The GT is looking stressed and is not eating.

could be! i would take on of them out before you lose one! i would have thought it would have been the GT doing this to the blue its wired

Are you sure it a blue acara because some people get them confused with GT. could we see a pic? :)

Deffinately possible, as they mature much younger/smaller than a GT does. GT's don't start earning their name until they mature at larger sizes (in general) than yours while blue acaras have been known to bred at really small sizes and become territorial at much smaller sizes as well. Not to mention they are from the some acara subgroup, and next to same species aggression, same group aggression is the next most common.

you answered your own question with your explaination.
any cichlid is capable of stressing any other cichlid, they are all different. i would imagine that, depending on the GT, your acara is gonna be in big trouble eventually. when the GT learns it doesnt have to take its crap and discovers it is much bigger and stronger. acaras are like firemouths, big blowhards.
looking at the size gap between the 2 i would have thought that point where your GT is born again hard wont be far off. remove the acara permanently for its own sake.
