I was just asking. my next thing to do was to obtain a permit here. in the lfs here all they have is blacks, jardini, and silver. pretty much nothing else. and if they had something else. its way over priced, and some are not even 100% healthy.

I raised a baby before. its not that hard. but it was only a silver.

I have someone i can trust up there to send it to me. if not i may be goin in july or something.

looks like i'm doing something shady. but its not.

but i do wonder how customs or fedex works from there to here.

How can you get a permit if they are illegal. Unless you own a large public aquarium or you are a fish and wild life officer with a permit then you won't have a legal Asian arowana. Just get a jar and put some red lights on the tank, squint and just make believe you have a Super Red. You can keep adding Red Parrot fishes for the jar to kill.

Hawaiian customs will more than likely pick it up, and you will get slapped with a fine. Not worth it if you ask me. Many fish are illegal in Hawaii, and as such the local customs officers go after many fish. This being a fish that is illegal on the Federal level means they will know it that much better.

I have heard that if you can prove that you will in some way help the wild populations it is legal to acquire the captive bred fish.

Asian aros are banned in the US. Thats just too bad, cos it shouldn't be. Don't risk importing it. The fish, if it survived the trip, will be confiscated and you will be many dollars poorer.

If the journey entails 4 to 5 days then no they would not likely survive especially juv. fish. Asian Aros are normally exported using air freight but to date have not heard of them using courier service probably due to higher cost etc.

Please don't. They're busy enough as it is. You will not get a permit. I promise you that. Not one has been given yet. I'm sure you have nothing more to bring to the table on this than anyone else has tried.

My friend, you're just so full of it. They will say no. Then you will try other means, albeit illegal ones :screwy: . I don't give a rats ass when you suffer the consequences, I just am concerned about the aro. If I were you, I'd drop the idea completely. Or move to Singapore. You can get all the Asian Aros you want! I'll even bring you to the LFSs that stock Asian aros, and arowana farms! :grinno:
