could i mix

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Exactly Ash.
If you want different species, great, get them, but house them in seperate tanks.

My Malawi tank has been running as it is now for 3 years, and I havent had a single death in all that time.
Its well stocked, but not over, it has a good rate of filtration, which I put my success down to, I do 30% water changes a week, and feed a mix of shelled peas, cucumber, vegetable flakes, and a special frozen malawi food that contains a small amount of krill along with algaes, and also malawi cichlid pellets, obviously not all at once mind you ;-))
I feed every evening except sundays, and twice a week in the mornings too.
They currently live in a 6x2x2 tank, but Im thinking of expanding.....

Wow I bet that is an impressive sight.
You should post some pictures!

I just have a 55 gallon mbuna tank. I would love to upgrade to a 125. I spent ages researching all my fish before I bought any. Now I have a great tank with lots of color and activity and everyone plays nice.

Il try do some pictures tomorrow after work...
Yea mines like that, all play riendly enough, its funny when my Ahli gets in a bad mood, normally he floats around quite happily looking at me, then occasionally he gets a cob on and chases my Hongi red top, the Hongi dives back into his cave, then sneaks out and bites Ahlis tail in revenge, its like he does it to annoy Ahli, like a child.. But its the size difference that makes it so funny, Ahli is nearly 9inch, and Hongi is 4!!!

That sounds neat

I would love to have an Ahli but 1)my tank is too small and 2) my mbuna are punks. If I ever upgrade to a 125 then I for sure will end up getting one. Just a stunning fish.

I dont know about America, but Ahli`s are quite hard to come by in England.
Im lucky because my neighbour owns a fish shop, so he looks out for rarer fish for me, and got hold of a male wild Ahli...
I have been after a couple of wild caught female Ahli for months, but cant find any.

I see them all the time around here. There are some local breeders as well. Good luck finding females.
