in my new 225 im thinking stocking wise:

silver aro
2x pbass (might change these to something else)
florida gar
3x bichirs
lima shovel

im wondering if in that tank (72" x 24"W x 30") could i get away with an rtc or tsn instead of the lima or bad idea? also if i switch the pbass out what you guys suggest replacing them with? i have a feeling they arent going to be easy to get here so might go with something different

The RTC just wouldn't work. He'd be as long as that tank is wide within a year, and then he'd probably eat all of his friends! I'd stick with the Lima.

As for PBass substitutes, I'm not sure... Are you looking for just two large fish, or would you be willing to go with several smaller (but still big), schooling fish? I was thinking maybe a group of big Silver Dollars, since the Bichirs are pretty much going to hang around at the bottom, and the gar will be all over the tank -- SDs would stay at mid-level. Some folks say don't keep them with Gar, but I do, and have had no problems -- every experience is different, though. Plus, they'd add a lot of movement to the tank.

well thats a thought. ive never been a huge fan of silvers but if theyd work super well with the stock list then id deffinatly debate it. how many would you put in my tank to give them a bit of a school but to not over crowd the tank?

other then that anyone else with ideas for replacements if i cant get the pbass? looking for something generally mid level .. that stand out a bit. like the idea of active

and yah after reevaluating im gonig to stick with the lima.

im also wondering if a RCK could fit somewhere in my stock list. any ideas?
im still pretty open to the stock but silvers are on my mind now. hmmmm

also no way that any kind of pirahna or pyara would work in my tank is there? ive also though about these after watching river monsters clips today they caught my attention even more

Emperor cichlid?

im not a huge fan of cichlids .. not a fan of the general shape .. even chichla took me a while to come around now i love them. first when i got my 50 gal i had cichlids in there. like some cons, a bumble bee etc etc. i had thought about like green terrors, maybeeee but still dunno.

also gotta watch out cichlid wise cause i plan to add ym silver in at 4-5" .. so not thinknig chichlid would be too great on him that small

the payara is a bad idea. most likely it will eat the other fish piece by piece or just kill it trust me i know from experience

that is a pretty big generalization, it also depends on the species
