Usually the parents will remove the bad eggs.

That's pretty much what has happened in the past. Sometimes the parents get a bit overzealous and remove ALL of the eggs but... heh...what can ya do???

I'll make sure I at least keep a couple of these dudes if they hatch.

You should of removed the eggs and cared for them yourself.

All the eggs look white to me , just some are going mouldy. After 3 days you should be seeing the fry inside the eggs or they should be hatching. They don't look fertile IMO but for your enjoyment I hope they are.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not expecting any of them to hatch due to what I mentioned in my first post but I am intrigued by the possibility. haha

I'll check on them here in a few and get another update going tonight or tomorrow.

Gnome...I am not going to remove the eggs of other, unwanted fry to care for them. I'm pretty sure I could have figured that one out for myself...LOL

These I will remove IF they make it to hatch. :)

Well....I see she's at it again! LOL! Samps I told you she was always trying to get the Oscar to spawn with her. She'd drop her breeding tube, but he just wouldn't do his part. :-) Looks like she finally found her man.

There have been instances with perculiar pairs actually spawning AND the babies sometimes hatch and make it.

If he's still not fully mature, he may be attempting to spawn with her, though he may not be fertile yet. But if this batch doesn't work out, eventually a batch might.
Do they fan the eggs?

You are right in what you are saying.I have had that happen to me.First 2 times the eggs were layed and the male did his thing but eggs were not fertile.Third time everything was sweet and every batch after was fertile too.:)

I have had a female blood parrot that would lay eggs with everything in sight.. Oscars, GTs, Tri-macs, FH's, Convicts..

The only thing she succesfuly cross-bred with was a Pink Convict.. The offspring looked like normal convicts (black/grey) with a very red belly. I wish I would of kept em past 3" and done a breeding project with them, because they were just starting to color up. Could of crossed them with my big Texa-con.

She's quite the hussy! That's for sure! haha

She has been fanning the eggs constantly with the snook but, as of this morning, it appears the eggs are all unfertilized. :(

Good news is that they will remain paired off even in their new tank so they can keep trying as the snook grows although I'm not sure I want to see the end result anyway! hahaha

The eggs have no orange/yellow color to them (as they should have) and she wasn't guarding the nest as closely this morning...

At least their happy! LOL

Aww, too bad Samps. :-( Maybe next time.

But I'm glad to see that little Parrot girl is OBVIOUSLY very happy! :-)
I can tell she's in love. She always gets that dumb look in her eyes, just like in the photo's. LoL!
