Could My Retic Be Pregnant

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
She's a baby, but it's just a matter of time...

My male is around 8-9 inches and my female is about an 0.5-1 inch smaller. But if she isnt pregnant well i guess im doing a good job, and my males claspers arent to big but you can see them from looking at the top of him. And again i've had the male for just over a year and the female about 2 months less. Has anyone bred these before, and does anyone have any pics of it? (the pups) Could my female be preg. or not and ill try my best to get a pic of my male (it shouldnt be that hard.)

they are too small to be mature... a males claspers curl when mature.... few more years and they should breed

:iagree:

AJfromAT is the only one I know of to breed retics here on MFK.. I think he said 12" in a 90g? Had them for 3 years? I forget.. his thread is here somewhere. Search for breeding reticulata.

Ya i thought I read that some were, and miles dont you have retics? I thougth ive seen you post some pics of your retics, but yours are really small arent they?

i remember reading someone had a 8" retric that was preg so... its not unheard of

Yeah mine are only 4-5", but they get fat like yours in the picture. Especially my biggest female..

I don't think disc size is nearly as important as age and sexual maturity.. I have seen opposing discussions about clasper size, disc size, length in captivity, size when imported, etc.. I would say it's uncommon for any stingray under 12" to be able to healthfully give birth.

I doubt that.... but about 15 threads down is miles thread with his retics
