My name is Dimitris from Athens-Greece owner of http://www.aquazone.gr and happens to know Heiko.

Heiko and Nattasa (his wife) is currently held by Brazilian authorities and they don't let them leave the country.

The fish in the bags where just speciments in alchohol and formol just for research.

I don't think it is a mix up at all, Heiko has a reputation in these countries for the illegal smuggling of animals out and then claiming he made a new discovery when he gets them home and declares it a new species. These countries do not like when foreigners come into there country steal there wild animals and then make a claim of new species without doing it in the original country and taking all the credit.

MANAUS - A Polícia Federal prendeu na tarde de ontem o editor da revista AquaGeographia, Heiko Bleher, e a fotógrafa Natasha Kardina por contrabando de peixes ornamentais da Amazônia. Segundo a assessoria da PF, os dois levavam cerca de 200 amostras de peixes dos Rios Negro e Jutaí, ambos no Amazonas.

Os dois foram presos ao tentarem embarcar para a Alemanha no Aeroporto Internacional Eduardo Gomes, em Manaus. As amostras estavam todas catalogadas com a hora, data e local da coleta. Algumas amostras estavam em água e outras em álcool. Foram ainda apreendidos um laptop, máquinas fotográficas, equipamentos de mergulho e um aparelho para medir a qualidade da água dos rios. Ainda segundo a assessoria, Bleher e Natasha não tinham autorização para as coletas.

Os dois tinham apenas dois documentos vencidos de autorização do Instituto Brasileiro do Meio Ambiente e Recursos Naturais e Renováveis (Ibama) para fotografia subaquática. A autorização era de novembro a dezembro de 2004. No site oficial do editor, http://www.aquapress-bleher.com, Bleher é apontado como descobridor do primeiro peixe-serra de água doce, em 1982. No site, um link para expedições anuncia que a atual expedição é no rio Jutaí. Uma frase demonstra a intenção das expedições: "Ele ainda quer investigação e amostras antes que seja tarde. A maior parte delas são ameaçadas pela destruição dos habitats."

in my insurance book with the list of doctors it also mentions the doctor is able to speak the several different languages because so many patients are different cultures and languages more and more in this country,..so definitly it will be a great asset..

i think, Heiko had disturbed some people, who were fire clearing the rain forest ... of course with a little help by the government.

I hope ONE THING:
Due to the nothingness of the "green party" in Germany money is also used to help poor people IN Germany ... i hope foreign aid to Brazil will be stopped! This money is mostly used to hold up a deeply corrupt government - this government had no problem to kill natives to get their land and this government have no problem to back up fire clearing!
Fire clearing is a theme of all-american interest in its directly climatic consequences (in longer periods it will be apocalyptic) ... it's the way to destroy the "green lungs" of the planet and causes dramatic meteorogical effects - even in the US area! Gustav ...
You my call me a jerk ... someday the Marines will go in that region to stop that problem! I hope "in time" ...

You may ask: What has this to do with Heiko Bleher?
Without people like Heiko we would not know about the life that's so worth to protect!
In one fact it seems he's a "miserable person".
Have anyone of you heard about a man doing fire clerance going to jail??!!
