If you want them to grow quick... I'd feed live...

I got some tiny less than one inch pbass (smallest I've ever had) and I've been feeding them bloodworms three times a day and they just aren't growing... grrrr... I can't wait till they can take guppies and I can put some size on them! Also shrimp doesn't seem to have enough nutrients that young cichla crave... Id try to mix in some live when ever you can.... your fish, you can do what you want though!

Been feeding mine shrimp(don't like pellets) and while they take it one is looking a little thin so I might get some feeders tommorrow, and the larger one who is a prick is just stubborn and won't eat it but likes pellets

I have raised some on pellets and they grew good though I think live is easiest because they gorge themselves on live so easily.

ya, that went out the window when i got home lol, i actually set up a NEW tank when i got home lol and my big tank looked so....empty......
it seems im the only lfs comber in my area so all the good stuff just piled up while i was gone lol it was just supposed to be a harmless trip of looking......i only had $20 on me...... next time i gotta be sure and empty my pockets before i head out lol. i almost bought a bunch of stuff at another store......

i figured hell, if i enjoy it, why not ENJOY it u know? im reaching capacity tho.... good thing i got a 40 gall sittin in the back yard just waitn for my next endevor.....brackish hopefully

well they hit some bloodowrms with zeal, so atleast i can keep theyre bellies full with worms betwen feedings of live

im gonna go get some feeders today and use a little 1.5 gallon tank i have layin around as a holding tank,gotta find an outlet to run the filter tho once im awake enuff to get off my ass........

heres some pics of thier temporary home, they gotta stay in there till they pick up like 3 more inches and rnt so skittish nemore so that they eat from the surface and i can give them feeders in the big tank without having to worry about the other fish getting any

also, think u can id the pbass thats not a tem? im leanin twords ocellaris but im a noob at the whole cichla thing.......hes funny tho, he fights with the heater

the tem with the messed up tail is the "leader" of the pack, everyone follows him around....

im really starting to like these guys, wish i had a bigger growout tank for um, id get another tem and 2 more of the other ones
